Who May Serve As Camp Medical Staff?
Our medical staff team are a vital part of the camp experience, as health and safety are our top priorities every summer. You can expect a demanding but extremely rewarding experience as you provide the medical knowledge necessary to make sure that every child has the opportunity to enjoy camp.
We are looking for staff who are warm, caring, empathetic, patient, enjoy a fast-paced enviornment, have a desire to work with children and young adults, and have strong communication skills.
Registered nurses, nurse practitioners, paramedics, physician assistants, and doctors are all welcome to join us during the summer as a part of our medical team.
What positions are available?
Week-long Overnight Staff
We have two medical professionals who live at camp for each session in one of our two health centers.
The medical staff work out of the Health Center and handle first aid incidents, distribution of medications, record keeping, and health center visits – when campers and counselors can see them about stomachaches, headaches, bug bites, colds, etc. You’ll see plenty of campers and staff for other reasons too, whether it being a comfort to a child experiencing homesickness, counselors taking some time to cool off from the heat of the summer, or visitors who are just looking for some gatorade and a popsicle.
Each health center has a nurses quarters attached with a private bedroom with air conditioning and bathroom . All of your meals are included during your week and are served out of the dining hall.
You’ll have the support of the camp administrative team throughout the week. Camp Ernst is also lucky to have Dr. Cunha of Pediatric Associates of Northern Kentucky as our on call medical professional. Dr. Cunha is available for calls and texts during the summer to consult on camper and staff needs.
